Wasel ("Wasel", "we", "us") is operated by A.C.N. 675 668 710 PTY LTD, trading as Wasel Global, in Australia. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we protect it, and the choices you have. Our guiding principle is simple: we collect as little as possible, and your conversations are yours alone.

Your messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted
Your one-to-one messages and calls on Wasel are end-to-end encrypted. They are encrypted on your device and can only be read or heard by you and the person you are communicating with. We cannot read your messages or listen to your calls, and we do not store their content in a form we can access. Because of this, there is nothing in your conversations for us to sell, share, or hand over.
Information we collect
- Account information: your Wasel number, display name, and the email or login identifier you use to sign in (including via Google or Facebook, if you choose them). If you sign in with Facebook, we request only your email and basic public profile; if no email is available, we may ask you to provide one.
- Limited metadata needed to deliver messages and calls: for example, that a message needs routing, delivery status, your connection state, and basic device/app information needed for security and to make the app work. We minimise this and do not build advertising profiles from it.
- Payment and balance information: if you buy tokens or services, we keep records of your transactions, balance, and usage (for example, minutes of calls or translations used). Card payments are processed by Stripe and cryptocurrency (USDT) payments via the relevant network; we do not store full card numbers.
- Translation data: on-device translation happens on your device and its content is not sent to us. If you choose our optional cloud ("Pro") translation, the text to be translated is sent from your device to our translation provider for that purpose only, with a clear indicator, and is not used to build profiles.
- Support information: if you contact support or report content, we receive what you choose to send us (including, for a report, the specific item you report and limited surrounding context).
How we use information
To provide and maintain Wasel; to route and deliver messages and calls; to process payments and track your balance and usage; to keep the service secure and prevent fraud and abuse; to respond to your support requests and reports; and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your communications for advertising.
Reports and safety
Because we cannot see your conversations, our safety work relies on reports you choose to make. When you report a message, your device sends us that item and limited context so our team can review it against our rules. We may also use automated hash-matching to detect known child sexual abuse material in reported items, which we are required to act on. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate our terms.
Lawful requests
We respond to valid legal requests as required by applicable law, through a documented, logged process. Because your messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted, we do not possess their content to provide.
Sharing
We share information only with service providers who help us run Wasel (such as our cloud, telephony, translation, and payment providers) under appropriate obligations, and where required by law. We do not sell your data.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, and then delete or anonymise it, except where we must retain certain records by law (for example, limited financial records). You can delete your account and data at any time (see "How to delete your data" or our Data Deletion page).
Security
We use encryption, access controls, and least-privilege internal practices to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we design Wasel so that your message and call content is not accessible to us in the first place.
Children
Wasel is not directed to children under the age required in your country (at least 13, or higher where local law requires). We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age.
International users and your rights
Wasel is operated from Australia and used globally. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@wasel.global.
How to delete your data
In the app: Account → Security & Privacy → Delete account. Or email info@wasel.global from your account email with the subject "Delete my data" and your Wasel number. We action verified requests within 30 days.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
